A woman was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after police said she slipped and was struck by a CTA bus in the South Shore neighborhood, authorities said.

About 7:30 a.m., a CTA bus was moving from a stationary position in the 7000 block of South Shore Drive, when a pedestrian approached, appeared to have slipped and was struck, Chicago police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The major accident investigation unit was looking into the incident.
