On Wednesday at 12:36 p.m. the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 9 p.m. until Thursday 4 p.m. for Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties.
The weather service says, "Total snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches in the most persistent lake snows, with local 5 to 8 inch amounts possible across the northwest portion of the Tug Hill Plateau. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow."
"Travel will be difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning commute," says the weather service. "Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities."
