Council’s planning and development committee on Tuesday held a public meeting over plans to rezone three parcels of land around the arena to ensure it can accommodate what city officials have come to call the MURF (Multi Use Recreational Facility).
While there were a few questions from nearby residents about the potential impact of the project, none spoke against it.
The ambitious, multimillion-dollar MURF project calls for, among other things, turning the current Memorial Centre into a twin-pad facility, a job that will require relocating the Goldie Christopher ballpark eastward.
The city also recently acquired land it was previously leasing from neighbour
