LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln teen found guilty of the fatal shooting of his brother last Christmas Eve was sentenced Wednesday.
Kentrail McDaniel Jr., 17, was sentenced to five years of probation with conditions on Wednesday, a drastic difference from the maximum punishment of 20 years in prison.
The teen shot and killed his brother, 20-year-old Johnathan McCray , outside Bridgeport Apartments near 14th Street and Hilltop Road on Dec. 24, 2024
McDaniel accepted a plea deal on Sept. 12 and pled no contest to manslaughter. In exchange, one count of using of a firearm to commit a felony was dropped.
McDaniel and his defense attorney, James Scarff, appeared in Lancaster County District Court for his sentencing on Wednesday.
