A parking argument turned violent outside a Pennsylvania Wegmans, police said in a release issued on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Walter Cecil Bass III, 58, of Warrington, is accused of assaulting a woman during the dispute outside the Wegmans at 1405 Main Street in Warrington, Bucks County, on Saturday, Sept. 27, according to the release.
Bass allegedly confronted the woman for parking in a no-loading zone and began yelling obscenities at her, investigators said. The woman told officers she tried to walk away, but Bass became increasingly aggressive, prompting her to swing her purse and hit him in the face, police said.
Bass then punched her in the face with a closed fist, knocking her into a display of flowers and leaving her with a bruised and swollen cheek, according to police.
Bass was arrested at the scene on Sept. 27 and formally charged when the complaint was filed on Monday, Oct. 27, court records show . He has been charged with Misdemeanor Simple Assault and Summary Harassment.
His case is assigned to Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8 at 8:15 a.m., according to the docket.
The docket lists multiple summons and fingerprint orders issued beginning on Oct. 29, including certified and first-class notices sent to Bass, records show. He has not yet been fingerprinted, according to the docket.
Bass is represented by attorney Robert Craig Keller, while the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case, the filing states.
