MAHNOMEN, Minn. — The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office said firefighters allowed a fire at a cannabis dispensary to burn Tuesday, Dec. 2, due to the presence of butane gas.
The fire occurred at Waabigwan Mashkiki in Mahnomen. Two people were in the lab when the fire started; one of them suffered minor burns.
The Moorhead Hazmat Team responded to the scene.
Firefighters were concerned about introducing oxygen to the area, which could have caused an explosion. They were directed to monitor the fire from a distance and allow it to burn off the butane.
