MARINETTE, Wis. (WBAY) - The Director of Communications at Fincantieri Marinette Marine confirmed that some employees at the business were let go on Wednesday.

“Like other businesses, we have to balance our workforce size and composition based on the work we have,” the company spokesperson said in an email to Action 2 News.

The number of employees let go was about 100, although the company’s Director of Communications didn’t have an exact number.

The entire workforce at Fincantieri Marinette Marine is about 2,175 including contracted labor, blue collar and white collar. A company spokesperson didn’t specify what type of employees were laid off Wednesday.
