First it was the snow. Now it’s the bitter cold. It means our cars are taking a beating.
We spoke with Don Walker, a mechanic who has been working on cars for more than 40 years. For the past two decades and counting, he’s been the owner of Don’s Auto Care in East Windsor .

Walker said he most often sees batteries and tire pressure issues during the winter.
Often, during routine maintenance, Walker said he will tell customers test results show the battery is low even though the customer reports the car is starting completely fine.
“A few weeks later, a very cold snap happens and then they’re back to us with a bad battery or a tow-in, which is probably more than the cost of the battery replacement,” Walker said.
