FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Downtown Fort Wayne’s Holly Shopping event saw significantly fewer customers Saturday as a snowstorm dumped 5.6 inches of snow on the city, forcing some businesses to close early and prompting organizers to plan a makeup event.
Gary Hively, who runs Poptique Gourmet Popcorn on Calhoun Street, said the weather kept potential customers away from his shop.
“There were no people... very very few,” Hively said. “There just weren’t many people out and about. It was too cold. It got to where they were telling people not to be out and about on the roads, so we actually shut down early.
Kim McCutchan with Downtown Fort Wayne said many downtown businesses reported sluggish sales Saturday due to the weather.
