BENSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The City of Benson is gearing up for a potential shake-up as enough signatures have been collected to trigger a recall election for four council members. The recall notices target Vice Mayor Levi Johnson and council members Patrick Boyle, Darren Hayes and Nick Maldonado. They now face a deadline to resign by next Tuesday or face a recall election in May.

The recall effort was organized by a group called a "Committee for a Better Benson," which submitted the necessary paperwork in late October. The Cochise County Recorder's Office later certified it. However, the group also attempted to recall Mayor Joe Konrad but fell short on signatures, so he will not be on the May ballot.
