ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - An Amtrak train traveling from St. Louis to Chicago partially derailed Sunday afternoon near Chicago, forcing about 250 passengers to deboard and many to continue their trip by bus, according to passengers and Amtrak.
The incident involved the northbound Texas Eagle, which left St. Louis’ downtown station around 8 a.m. Sunday. Around 1:30 p.m., just outside Chicago, some wheels on part of the train slipped off the tracks.
Amtrak says there were no reported injuries.
One passenger, Carson Pruitt, said the derailment itself felt minor inside the car.
“Just a light jolt, like your friend pushed you on the shoulder a little bit,” Pruitt said.
