Could members of the Tiverton Town Council serve twice as long between votes? It's one of the things being considered by the Tiverton Charter Review Commission as members mull over changing tcouncil terms from two to four years.

The nine-member commission meets at least every six years to discuss and recommend amendments to the town charter. Each proposed amendment then goes to a public hearing before the town council.

Traditionally, council elections are held every two years. However, according to commission chairman Michael Janick, these short terms give councilors a limited time to get accustomed to the position, making the job more difficult than it needs to be.
