GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld the attempted murder conviction of a Gastonia man who shot another man multiple times outside a nightclub following an argument over who was served first at the bar.

Darius Jones, 38, was given a 15-19-year prison sentence after a jury convicted him of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, in a October 2020 shooting.

In an opinion filed Wednesday, the court rejected Jones' argument that the trial court erred in denying his motion to dismiss for insufficient evidence.
