VERONA, Wis. (WKOW) -- There's still time to help families in need put gifts under the Christmas tree this holiday season.
The Toys for Tots campaign is underway, and 27 News evening anchor Brandon Taylor joined members of the Marine Corps Reserve to shop for gifts. Together, they filled shopping carts at Blain's Farm & Fleet in Verona. The Marines coordinate the campaign each year.
"It makes me feel great knowing that we're helping the unfortunate kids in Dane County. There are always kids in need, and I love being able to give them hope and a gift for Christmas," said Staff Sgt. Edward Perez of the Marine Corps Reserve.
This year, organizers hope to provide gifts for about 16,000 children. The Marines say they especially need donations for kids age 10 and older.
