Until just a few months ago, Bishop Luers senior Jonas Muya considered himself a basketball player.
But at 6-8 and 280 pounds, Muya, a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo who attended La Lumiere as a sophomore and junior, has the ideal build for a top-level lineman.
After helping the Knights to their third straight state finals appearance last Friday, the offensive lineman took the next step in his young football career, signing with West Virginia on Wednesday.
"I was really impressed by the program. Everybody there was tough, and the coaches were very welcoming," Muya said of the Mountaineers. "They showed me how they do things over there, and it's impressive, what the players do after. That's why I chose (West Virginia)."
