RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed a baby in Virginia has gotten sick with botulism as health leaders continue to monitor the ongoing outbreak.
The outbreak is linked to ByHeart baby formula, which has been recalled.
According to the CDC, infant botulism often starts with constipation but is usually first noticed as difficulty feeding, a weak and altered cry, and lack of head control.
As of Wednesday, Dec. 3, 39 babies across the country have gotten sick with botulism brought on by the ByHeart formula.
Heath officials did not specify where in the state the sick child is or how old they are.
The Virginia Health Department has previously said if you have the recalled formula on your shelf, make sure you return it for a refund or throw
