TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Four Benson City Council members are facing recall elections following community outrage regarding the council’s handling of a proposed aluminum plant.

The Committee for a Better Benson submitted recall petitions against four city councilors, saying they aren’t doing enough to hold the company behind the aluminum plant accountable. Those petitions were reviewed by the city, and now, those council members will face recall elections unless they resign.

On Tuesday, four Benson councilors — Patrick Boyle, Darren Hayes, Nick Maldonado, and Levi Johnson — received official notices from the city informing them they’d face recall elections.
