TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A recent accident at Gates Pass Road comes with additional concerns for the community.

Many people reached out to 13 News and are calling on Pima County to find solutions to make the area safer.

Someone who knows about how unsafe Gates Pass can be is Tucson resident Jamie Williams, who survived an accident in the area almost three years ago.

She and her husband were driving in the area on their motorcycle when they hit a chunk of the road that had clumped together after a storm. While Williams survived, her husband did not.

“I remember going through (Gates Pass) behind him on the motorcycle and taking in the beauty,” Williams said. “Then, three weeks later, I woke up (from a coma) and he was gone.”
