MCPHERSON, Kan. (KAKE) - A big change for the nearly 500 students at McPherson Middle School. Its students will be turning in their personally assigned Chromebooks at the end of the semester to focus on a more holistic style of learning, using technology "more sparingly and intentionally."
McPherson Middle put out an announcement earlier this week saying that after winter break, students will no longer take Chromebooks home for daily use.
This is something middle schoolers in McPherson have been doing for more than ten years, and it's a common practice across the state- but after reconsidering this decision following new research, McPherson Middle’s administration is hoping to inspire other districts to follow suit.
“We really owe it to our students to make sure that they’re as engaged
