EL DORADO, Kan. (KAKE) - A Butler County judge ordered a Rose Hill man to 60 days in jail and four years of probation after the death of his six-year-old adopted daughter.
Kennedy Schroer -- born as "Natalie Garcia" and renamed "Kennedy" by her adoptive parents -- died after abuse from her adoptive mother. She was found buried in the backyard of their home in September 2024.
"It just isn't right," said her biological grandmother.
Joseph Schroer , 53, was sentenced for two counts of aggravated child endangerment and one count of Medicaid fraud.
He pleaded no contest to the charges earlier this year.
In November, Crystina Schroer was sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison for killing Kennedy, making false statements, and for the Medicaid payments the couple continued to collect
