ELYRIA, Ohio — Lorain County Transit has secured a $13,000 grant from the Community Foundation to bolster its microtransit operations, marking the second major grant the transit system has received this year.

Karen Perkins, the county’s deputy administrator, announced the funding during the Dec. 2 Lorain County Commissioners meeting. She explained that the grant, combined with support from the Nord Foundation, will help sustain the microtransit system as community backing for county transportation continues to build momentum.

“These are two new grants that we’ve applied for and that we’ve received because everybody wants to participate in our successful microtransit program,” Perkins said.
