MUMBAI: Even though he has retired from T20Is, former India captain Rohit Sharma wants to play for Mumbai in the knockouts of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a domestic T20 tournament, TOI has learnt. Currently playing for India in the ongoing three match ODI series against South Africa, the 38-year-old could play for Mumbai in the knockouts, which will be held in Indore from Dec 12-18. The ODI series ends on Saturday. Having won all their four matches so far in the league stage of the tournament in Lucknow, and topping Elite Group A with 16 points in the bag, Mumbai are primed to enter the knockouts. “Rohit has expressed his desire to play for Mumbai in the knockouts of SMAT,” a source in the Mumbai Cricket Association said.
