: The crisis at Tezpur University deepened on Wednesday as the campus-wide protest entered its 75th day, prompting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to urge Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to immediately appoint a Pro-Vice Chancellor to stabilise the institution.

Sarma said he appealed for an interim administrative arrangement while an impartial inquiry is carried out into the allegations against Vice Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh.

“I urged the Hon’ble Minister to appoint a Pro-Vice Chancellor immediately, pending an impartial enquiry into the conduct of the present Vice Chancellor, so that academic stability is maintained,” the Chief Minister said.
