WASHINGTON — The Steep Rock Association invites those interested in helping collect data on birds inhabiting the Litchfield Hills, to participate in the Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, during an excursion to the Macricostas Preserve in New Preston, Connecticut.
Participants are welcome to summon the scientist within to help Steep Rock Association (SRA) collect data on birds inhabiting the Litchfield Hills. This birding excursion will be held in Macricostas Preserve as part of the nation’s longest-running community science bird project, Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count (CBC).
The CBC was created to document trends in North American bird populations over time. This project, as with so many others, relies on public input and exemplifies the value
