USM football opens early period by signing 9 high school players to Class of 2026

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi netted nine high school football payers Wednesday during the opening of the early signing period.

The group was weighted heavily toward the offensive side of the ball, with three offensive linemen, two receivers, a quarterback, a tight end and a running back among Wednesday’s haul.

Defensive back Chauncey Davis Jr. from North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia, was the lone player on defense.
