Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar on Thursday as students staged a demonstration following alleged harassment by a faculty member.

Sources said widespread protest erupted on the campus after some female students accused a faculty member of indulging in harassment and inappropriate conduct. ADVERTISEMENT

It was alleged that the accused, who recently joined the Drama Department, was harassing female students with inappropriate touch or physical contact. He was accused of making sexually suggestive remarks and offering favours.

When some girls complained about it, a large number of students hit the streets and staged a demonstration, disrupting traffic movement. The protesters blocked the road and demanded immediate action against the accused.
