The Surprise Parks and Recreation Department won a $4,000 grant to offer a swimming program through the Michael Phelps Foundation.

The grant to implement the Individual Medley program was the same one Surprise was awarded in 2022 and 2023.

The IM program provides water safety instruction, recreational aquatic activities, structured and organized swimming and health, wellness, and goal-setting education to the community.

This one-time grant will cover the city’s expenses related to program, which include the salaries of the staff members who will teach the components of the program.
