OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A teen will spend decades in prison in connection to a deadly shooting two years ago in North Omaha.
A judge sentenced a 19-year-old to 55 years in prison Monday — nearly the maximum sentence — following the murder of 16-year-old Lamarantae Swift. The suspect was 17 at the time of the shooting.
The suspect pled no contest on Sept. 22 to charges of first-degree assault and discharging a firearm in proximity of a motor vehicle. A first-degree murder charge was dropped in the plea deal.
First Alert 6 has chosen to not name him, due to his age at the time of the murder and his plea to reduced charges.
On Oct. 1, 2023 , officers were called to the area of 24th and Clark streets around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Swift died and five others were shot
