CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Gary Wachs, the man behind Kings Island, has been inducted into the International Amusement Park Hall of Fame after creating one of Greater Cincinnati’s most popular attractions.
Hundreds of millions of people have walked through the gates of Kings Island over the years.
The park exists because Wachs saw his dream through to completion after a flood in the 1960s left his family’s Coney Island amusement park underwater.
“Gary really was the individual who is responsible for Kings Island, without him Cincinnati wouldn’t have this major theme park,” said Dennis Speigel, CEO and founder of International Theme Park Services.
