Authorities are looking into an extraordinary break-in at an American liquor shop following an incident where a drunk raccoon smashed through the ceiling, wreaked havoc inside and collapsed in the lavatory.

The masked intruder left a trail of shattered bottles and a powerful smell of alcohol in its wake in Virginia. The drama unfolded on Friday evening, when employees found the shop floor littered with broken glass and spilled liquor. Early indications suggested a standard burglary until police found the perpetrator the next morning.
