WAKEFIELD — Confidence has increased for snow over most of the area early Friday morning, continuing into the early afternoon, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Wakefield.

The Historic Triangle falls within an area expected to see less than an inch of accumulation, while predictions increase to 1-2 inches closer to Richmond — up to 3 inches is possible — and less toward Norfolk. Area roads were being treated Thursday.

NWS said snow will likely stick to the roads and sidewalks, making the morning commute slick. A light glaze of ice is also possible as it changes to a wintry mix/freezing drizzle in the afternoon, meaning the afternoon commute may be impacted as well.
