India’s aviation regulator has released a detailed breakdown of IndiGo’s ongoing operational crisis, revealing 1,232 flight cancellations over the recent period and a sharp deterioration in the airline’s punctuality. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also asked IndiGo to report to its headquarters to present the full facts behind the escalating disruption.
According to the DGCA note, 755 cancellations were driven by crew shortages and compliance with the revised Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms, while another 350 cancellations stemmed from ATC system failures, airspace restrictions, and airport-related constraints. The regulator said many of these factors lie beyond the airline’s direct control but emphasised the need for tighter planning and coordination.
