VIENNA, Ill. (WSIL) -- Arrowleaf is calling for community support as its annual Angel Tree program faces an unprecedented level of need with 505 children referred this year.
Many Angel Tree cards across Arrowleaf's sites remain unselected, highlighting the urgent need for assistance. This year marks the highest number of children in the program's history, which spans more than 20 years.
The program assists families experiencing crises by connecting them with community donors to provide holiday gifts for their children.
"We already have referrals for 505 children, and we are still having to turn away families. Many cards are still hanging on our trees, and we are genuinely worried we won’t have enough support to meet the need," said Marsha Hayes, Angel Tree Program Coordinator.
