LAWRENCE — With Jalon Daniels’ college career coming to an end, Kansas football knows it needs to determine who’ll start at quarterback next season.
Cole Ballard was a redshirt sophomore in 2025, and Isaiah Marshall a redshirt freshman. Both are prime candidates for the job, with David McComb coming off of his freshman year and Jaylen Mason arriving as a Class of 2026 signee. That is, unless coach Lance Leipold and offensive coordinator Jim Zebrowski turn to the transfer portal for the answer to this pivotal question.
While Leipold was posed with the idea of choosing a quarterback out of the transfer portal, he didn’t appear to give much credence to that possibility on Wednesday, Dec. 3, during his National Signing Day press conference.
