CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Monty Python’s “Spamalot” is embarking on a quest to hit more than two dozen cities over the next nine months, and Cleveland is the first stop. Based on the cult comedy classic “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the Tony Award-winning musical launches its new national tour at Playhouse Square’s Connor Palace through Saturday, Dec. 6.
Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer caught up with Monty Python founding member Eric Idle , who wrote the book and lyrics, to share three reasons you’ll want to see it.
1. It feels new again
Twenty years after its Broadway debut, “Spamalot” still feels fresh. This tour builds on last season’s acclaimed Broadway revival, directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes.
“Josh Rhodes is a genius,” Idle said. “He knows where the laughs are.”
