Walmart Inc. has opened a second milk processing facility, creating more than 400 jobs in Valdosta, Ga.

The 300,000-square-foot plant opened Wednesday and represents a $350 million investment. Walmart built its first such facility in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Sourcing milk directly from local dairy farmers, the Valdosta plant will process and bottle milk for Walmart's Great Value and Sam's Club's Members Mark brands.

It will supply more than 650 stores.

"This new facility has innovation at its core," said Bruce Heckman, vice president of manufacturing for Walmart U.S. "It will bolster our capacity to meet the demand for high-quality milk, make our supply chain more resilient and build even greater transparency around sourcing."
