SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to hold consultations with political parties over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, saying clarity was needed to address issues raised by several groups. Speaking to reporters after attending the passing-out parade of the Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) regiment Omar said, political parties should be briefed on the revision process to avoid speculation.
He further said that electronic voting machines were reliable but could be influenced if not handled with transparency, and stressed the need for all stakeholders to understand the SIR exercise.
