Physicians at Northwell Health ’s Sexual Health Program, part of North Shore University Hospital , are drawing attention to the persistently high rates of sexually transmitted infections (STI) across Long Island on the 37th anniversary of World AIDS Day.

While real progress continues in the fight to end the HIV epidemic, potent antiretroviral therapy and increased access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), STIs continue to plague the region in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to data from the New York State Department of Health (DOH).
