KENORA — Change is coming to Kenora’s recycling program, starting with the arrival of recycling carts.
Kenora homes will begin receiving 360-litre recycling carts sometime next week, city operations director Greg Breen said Thursday.
Curbside collection customers should continue to place recyclables in the blue boxes they already have for the rest of 2025. Then, beginning Jan. 2, recyclables will be picked up in the new carts.
The new system is both more convenient and mandated by the Ontario government, Breen said.
“The province is moving to a new framework for delivering recycling services,” he explained.
“Under this new framework, the cost of delivering recycling services is to be borne by producers of the materials themselves.”
Fully funded by producers, the new system is managed
