If you live in Conroe or Pearland and you feel like your property taxes are pretty steep, recent data says you’re not alone.
A study conducted by SmartAsset ranked 343 of the largest cities in the United States based on the percentage of annual homeowner income that was going towards property taxes.
Conroe ranked as the city with the 16th highest tax burden in the nation, while Pearland ranked 21st.

According to the data, the median income of households with a mortgage in Conroe was $114,220. Conroe residents had a median monthly housing cost of $2,453 and a median annual property tax of $5,866 — meaning that 5.1% of their income went towards property taxes.
