The National Weather Service issued a report at 1:31 p.m. on Thursday for heavy snow until 2:15 p.m. for Herkimer, Montgomery and Schoharie counties.

"At 1:30 p.m., a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from near Ephratah to near Jordanville to West Winfield and moving east at 45 MPH," comments the weather service.

This includes Interstate 90 between exits 27 and 29.

Expect heavy snow in the following locations:

Canajoharie, Fort Plain, and Jordanville around 1:35 p.m.

Johnstown, Fonda, and Ames around 1:40 p.m.

Sharon Springs and Tribes Hill around 1:45 p.m.

Amsterdam and Fort Johnson around 1:50 p.m.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.
