PANHANDLE, Texas (KFDA) -The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will host a public meeting Thursday evening on Fermi’s application for air quality permits for its new AI data center.
Documents state TCEQ is hosting the meeting because it was requested by local legislators.
The permit would authorize construction of an electric generating plant in Carson County.
Fermi has brought in an expert meteorologist with expertise in air quality to discuss the permitting process and the environmental implications of the center.
Meteorologist Gale Hoffnagle said even in downtown Amarillo, there would be more pollutants because of cars and trucks, but it’s safer than any other big city in the state of Texas, where you could live, like Dallas or Fort Worth.
