Some staff at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) are fuming after management announced it is cutting unlimited mental health benefits in the new year.

The Free Press obtained a copy of the email sent to staff from supervisor David Musyj – who confirmed its authenticity Thursday – and Julia Marchesan, a vice-president of employee experience. The email said the total cost shared by LHSC and rising premium costs paid by staff is “no longer sustainable.”

“We have made the difficult decision to transition from unlimited mental health benefits to capped mental health benefits as of Jan. 1, 2026,” the email read.

“Since the voluntary introduction of unlimited mental health benefits in 2024, we have seen costs rise exponentially,” the email said, citing expenses exceeding $3.1 million in 2024
