TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A California man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly had sex with a young East Valley girl that he met online.

Police arrested 23-year-old Daniel Angel Martinez in connection with a sex crimes case involving a 13-year-old girl from Tempe.

The investigation began in August after the victim’s parents discovered explicit chats and photos on her phone. Investigators say Martinez, who was living in Pomona, California, and the victim met through the online chat forum Discord when she was 12. During that time, the two reportedly formed a “romantic relationship.”
