BOROUGHWIDE — Brooklyn’s two patrol boroughs moved in opposite directions last month, with Brooklyn North posting declines in robberies, burglaries and shootings, while Brooklyn South recorded sharp jumps in violent crime that pushed its monthly totals up even as year-to-date numbers remain flat.
Brooklyn North: Major crimes in Brooklyn North ticked down slightly in November, with total index offenses falling 1.5% over the 28-day period. Robberies dropped 7.1%, while burglaries fell 25.3%. Felony assaults rose 11.1%, and grand larceny increased 5.5%. Auto thefts continued a sharp decline, down 24.6%. Shootings also remained down: victims dropped 25%, and incidents fell 20%. Year-to-date, Brooklyn North major crime is down 1.1%, with murders down 26.9%.
