The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday expanded a sweeping voluntary recall for more than 260,000 cases of shredded cheese, much of which is sold on Maricopa shelves.

Great Lakes Cheese Company led the recall after metal fragments were found in a supplier’s raw materials, according to newly released FDA enforcement documents. The recall, first initiated Oct. 3, was expanded yesterday to cover dozens of shredded mozzarella and multi-cheese blends expanded to 31 states, including Arizona .

The recall focuses on low-moisture part-skim mozzarella and blended shredded cheeses in multiple cuts and package sizes. The FDA says these cheeses “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” The affected brands are:
