Desert Wind Middle School was placed on a brief Secure protocol late this afternoon while staff responded to a student medical situation, according to a letter sent to families by Principal Aidan Balt.

“This means there is a situation we are addressing, and we are keeping everyone inside as a precaution,” according to a text message to parents at 3:01 p.m.

Balt said the incident was not related to any threat on campus. He noted that at no time were other students at risk.

Staff resolved the incident quickly and normal operations resumed soon after.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership in keeping our school safe and supportive for all students,” Balt wrote in the message to families.
