BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
UAB interim head coach Alex Mortensen is expected to be promoted to the full-time role, according to multiple reports , elevating the Blazers’ offensive coordinator less than two months after he took over the program.
Mortensen, 38, is in his third season at UAB and was named interim head coach back in October following the firing of former head coach Trent Dilfer . In his debut as interim, he led the Blazers to an upset of then-No. 22 Memphis.
Mortensen has directed one of the most productive stretches of offense in program history since arriving from Alabama, where he spent nine seasons on Nick Saban’s staff as a graduate assistant and offensive analyst.
