FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - At the Huntington County Humane Society, the need is changing not just for the animals, but for the families who love them.
Board president, Katie Hudson, says families are facing some of the toughest choices they’ve ever had to make: keep their pets or keep a roof over their heads.
Too often, we’re finding families more so than ever coming to us in their greatest moments of need, whether that is for pet food, or they’re losing their homes and are not certain what to do with their pets." Katie Hudson.
Hudson says she knows those stories well.
She started as a volunteer six years ago, without a clue she’d find a shelter desperately in need.
Hudson says that need hasn’t gone away. In fact, the community’s needs have grown too.
