BOSTON —
More than a year after Boston police responded to a possible drunk driving crash involving one of their own, a now-retired Boston police detective faced a judge as a defendant.
Greg Walsh, who retired shortly before being indicted last month , pleaded not guilty in Suffolk Superior Court Thursday to four charges in all: negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a collision with property damage, OUI and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
Before those pleas, Walsh's attorney, Greg Henning, asked a judge to dismiss the case before the arraignment, which would have spared Walsh from having a criminal record.
"I do not know of another case where the Commonwealth has indicted for misdemeanor charges with no felony," Henning said in court.
